Women's Program Center/Aqaba Camp


The center was established in 1991

 

The center carries out various activities, including:

  • Kindergarten classes for the orchard and preliminary

  • A beauty salon where it does monthly sessions for female students for a nominal amount 

  • The loan program, where it lends people small amounts to work on a project or repair a house, etc...

  • The center has created an educational program for private lessons from the first to the tenth

    First: The Women’s Economic Empowerment Center was established in 1991
    And that was when the UNRWA in Jordan provided training to Palestinian women in the camps, and because there was no camp in Aqaba, it was found in the gathering place of Palestinian refugees in Aqaba.
    UNRWA was providing training on the art of sewing and detailing to the trainees, and it provided the trainees, the teachers, with the prices of sewing machines and fabrics, and gave the trainees a certificate issued by UNRWA and signed by the UNRWA Operations Director

    Second: The range of vocational and craft programs has been expanded to train women, including beauty \ hair cutting and handicrafts such as embroidery and the craft of making accessories from beads, which helped in improving the income of women

    Third: At the beginning of the year 2000, the agency withdrew the agency's staff, and the centers became managed by the administrative committee, under financial and technical supervision from the agency, with the expansion of all programs and activities offered to women.

    Fourth: The existence of a loan department, which contributes to giving women simple loans to work on projects that benefit them and their families
