Women's Program Center / Jerash Camp

The Women's Programs Center is located in Jerash Governorate within the Jerash camp (Gaza camp). UNRWA established the department of sewing and beautification, and the department of hoop and knitting education, and with the increasing needs of the camp, a production unit was opened inside the center, in addition to the Golden Sanabel Kindergarten of the center and a nursery for children, followed by the start of the elderly and elderly project and the health services program. It falls under the umbrella of the International Relief Agency as a technical supervision only, noting that the center is managed through a voluntary local committee, and the center is financially managed through its internal activities and programs, and the center depends mainly on the revenue (rent) from the three rented warehouses of the center.

 

The center targets the following groups through various programs and axes, which we mention as follows:

1- Women through the following Axes:

    Empowering women economically through training courses that qualify them to engage in the labor market, which are beauty and sewing courses, in addition to the lending program that targets women by providing small loans that qualify them to start their simple projects.

   - Raising awareness through educational, health and social workshops on topics of interest to women in society.

2- The child, through the following axes:

   - Kindergarten and nursery

   - Summer educational and recreational activities and summer clubs

3- youth, through the following themes :-

   - The educational aspect through remedial lessons and various educational courses such as English language courses

   - Life skills workshops for adolescents

4- The elderly and the elderly through the following axes :-

   - The health aspect is in cooperation with the health program, which is one of the center's programs, and in coordination with different doctors and hospitals .

   - The social aspect by bringing them, sharing conversations, giving them religious lessons, and providing them with meals for the purpose of entertaining them .

5- Marginalized groups and chaste families through the following axes:-

   - Referring cases that need treatment and are not financially able to hospitals, conducting the necessary x-rays, and transferring to a specialized eye center for cases in need, in cooperation with the health program. .

   - Providing in-kind and cash assistance to chaste families during the month of Ramadan, and installing zinc panels for homes through donors.

    - Center programs and departments :-  

    - Cosmetology Department: A 6-month course in cosmetology is given

    - Sewing Department: A course in sewing and embroidery is given for a period of 6 months

    - Fitness Section

    - Kindergarten

    - Nursery

    - Remedial lessons for high school students in literary and scientific subjects

    - Individual Lending Program: In it, soft loans are provided to women in the camp to start their own small projects

   - The health program: The program provides health and medical services to the camp residents through networking with a number of donors and hospitals, such as Al-Shami Eye Center, Al-Rajaa Medical Center, and others. Among the services of the program are: :-

1- X-Rays

2- Doing some surgeries and eye operations, such as cataracts

3- Transforming eye cases and making eyeglasses

4- Covering government hospital accounts

5- Guarantees for orphans and the poor

6- Providing medicines and infant formula for medical conditions

7- Providing towels for the elderly

** Note that all health program services are provided after conducting a special case study .
